Devlog #1
Hello Everybody!
DaangItsNat (aka Nat) here to announce our first game and show you our plan, plus the progress we have made in the first two weeks of development .
The Idea
Gameplay
This game is going to be a 2D turn-based RPG style game. For the fighting system we are combining a mix of our favorite games, with a little bit of our own twist. Our plan is a party system where certain items control a character actions.
Story
The Idea for "Wild Walnut West" is that you are a flapjack creature, named Jack, who is the sheriff of a town in the middle of the wild west. His goal is to capture the most wanted criminal Crepe, a waffle, and his main rival. Of course, to not ruin the plot of our story, we will not be mentioning a lot here except for some basic details like character description, appearance, or actions.
Progress
Since it has been two weeks not a lot of progress has been made. However we have made enough for some of the basic RPG components.
Art
In the section of art, our artist Mario8665 has started on the player character appearance, some temporary building textures and is working on ground textures. He is currently the real mvp as a lot of this game is based around his idea. Chirolalyfe, another artist, has also started helping out by making some art for our shopkeeper, and backgrounds for said shop.
We've also started to produce some sound effects. By rubbing our hands together, we were able to make a sort of shuffling sound which is used for entering and exiting various buildings.
Programming
Programming wise, I am in charge. Player movement + running is already implemented with a stamina system. Building interactions, aka walking in and out of buildings are also already created. Currently I'm working on an inventory system, which I hope is done before I leave for two weeks...
Anyway that's it for this post. Following posts will hopefully be less crazy and unorganized like this one. See ya guys!
